Great Himalaya trek

Great Himalaya trek is an adventure hiking along the 1700 km (1056 miles trail) long trail begins from Taplejung district in the east and ends of Humla and Darchula district in the west in 156 days. The majestic views of the mountain over 8000 meters are notable, however, the high passes up to 6200 m above the sea are challenging. The ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development) and SNV (Netherlands Development Organization, or Stichting Nederlandse Vrijwilligers) proposed developing and official ‘Great Himalaya Trail’ from Kanchenjunga in the east to Api-Saipal in the far west of Nepal in 2006. Their plans are moving ahead with the help of Nepal Tourism Board, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), mountaineers and trekking guides. The government accepted the proposal and created the longest trekking route in 2008 with the help of the United Kingdom DFID (Department for International Development), SNV and Nepal Government.
